Advanced Chemical Technology, Inc. is a full service industrial water treatment company. ACT has been offering chemical treatment, equipment and water management services since 1996. Corporate offices, technical service laboratory, manufacturing and warehouse facility are located in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Additional offices are located in Northern California, along with a Phoenix, Arizona distribution warehouse.

ACT is committed to providing performance based water treatment and responsive customer service. This commitment includes equipment installation, clean outs, acid descaling, monitoring and control, and annual inspections. The extensive product line includes treatments for boilers, cooling tower systems, closed loop systems, steam & condensate systems, and reverse osmosis units. These products are currently being applied in schools, industrial plants, office buildings, department stores, government buildings, hospitals, co-generation plants and wastewater facilities.

  • Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for managing sales of the company’s products and services within a defined geographic area. Building market position by locating, developing, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings.
    In this position, you will be responsible for servicing current customers, including in-field visits and on-site analysis; and being present for boiler, condenser, and cooling tower inspections. You will also be responsible for seeking out new customers, including the initial contact, field visits, surveys, negotiations, contract/proposal signings, and then on to in-plant start-up and on-going service.
    This will involve completing agreed upon contractual services in the assigned area and providing customers with problem solving support. You will also assist other Representatives with start-ups of both new applications in current customers, and in transitioning competitively-held accounts to ACT. This position will also require you to build strong relationships with your assigned customer base to generate a high level of customer satisfaction. This position will cover assigned sections in the Southern California area as well as potentially some work out of territory. Travel for this position should not exceed 20%.

    Main Responsibilities
    • Provides on-site customer service in accordance with the service plan.
      • Engage in problem solving by performing chemical analysis, interpreting data and providing written recommendations to ensure customer operations are performing at optimal levels.
        • Assists Full Service personnel in maintaining 100% compliance with Company Service Standards. Complete required field documentation and reports and electronically transmit appropriate completed reports.
          • Assist other Representatives with start-ups of new applications in both existing customers and in new accounts.
          • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
          • Screens potential customers by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, value potential, and financials; evaluates options to close
          • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
          • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company’s vision and strategy
          • Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
          • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, and availability
          • Quote prices, credit terms, or other bid specifications.
          • Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
          • Negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements.
          • Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained, and submit orders for processing.
          • Select the correct products or assist customers in making product selections, based on customers' needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
          • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information.
          • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
          • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, filing expense account reports and Service Reports.
          • Support the process of enabling the service team to complete installations / overhauls and job tickets.
            • Responsible for all aspects of safety on the job, including the operation and maintenance of assigned company vehicle, the compliance with ACT Safety, HAZMAT & Product Stewardship policies.

              Basic Qualifications
              • Technical Degree or High School Diploma or equivalent
                • 3+ years of experience with Water Treatment or specialty chemical industry experience
                • Sales and Marketing-Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and actual sales performance.
                • Customer and Personal Service-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
                  • Practical computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to learn internal business systems)
                  • Strong written and oral communication skills
                  • Local travel required to support assigned customer accounts
                  • Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
                  • Must be able to travel 20%

                    Preferred Qualifications
                    • Associate's Degree (AAS), or Bachelor's Degree (BS) in a technical, engineering or science field
                    • CWT certification from Association of Water Technologies (AWT)
                    • Working knowledge of boilers, cooling towers, closed Loops and/or wastewater treatment systems
                    • Experience with RO and Softening and the associated control systems
                    • History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation
                    • Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
