Data Scientist-PW15 Dell - Round Rock, TX, US

Responsible for the design and development activities associated with software using a range of applicable technologies (e.g., programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, other tools) for products used in local, networked or Internet-related computer programs. Analyzes requirements and develops innovative, useful software. Modifies existing software products to add new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance or enhance product usability. Participates in product development in all stages from planning and design to development and testing. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. 
  • Oversee the delivery of scalable and real-time analytical information in support of Dell business intelligence and analytics platform
  • Leverage deep technical expertise in data mining and predictive analytics to build sound predictive analytical models and produce business intelligence solutions
  • Apply a wide array of advanced data mining techniques (including supervised and unsupervised methods, dimension reduction methods, and social network analysis methods) in support of research and operational analytic projects.
  • Contribute to methodological standards and support business development activities  for the company’s data mining and predictive analytics capabilities
  • Advise senior management on gaps in the company’s current technical capabilities and recommend plans for growth through the adoption of new methodologies and technology
  • Mentor and support the professional development of new and existing staff in data mining and predictive analytics

Master’s degree in relevant field preferred; strong statistical background

10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

8+ years experience in data mining, predictive modeling, or other data intensive analytical role

Expertise in data mining and predictive modeling methodologies and technology

Proven ability to design and leverage predictive analytics according to client needs and in support of client decision-making

Experience working with large-scale databases, big data frameworks, and tools

Extensive experience with SAS, R, SQL, and/or business intelligence tools in the application of data mining and/or predictive modeling

Proven ability to effectively communicate design specifications and results of models to internal and external audiences

Strong record of proven leadership ability and excellent communication skills

Prior experiencing leading advanced analytical teams and/or engagements

Experience formulating or contributing to proof concept analyses or demos is high desired

Experience contributing to innovative analytical solutions is highly desired
