Engineering Manager - Manufacturing Engineering B. Braun Medical, Inc. - Pennsylvania Allentown

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at our Allentown PA manufacturing facility. This individual will supervise all the functions of the Manufacturing Engineering department (Process Development & Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Automation & Controls Engineering), that are responsible for establishing robust manufacturing processes initially and maintaining as well as improving manufacturing processes for better Rate-Quality-Yield. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager owns the role/activity of process development and improvement including the planning, assigning, and directing of work of Engineers in that designated area.

Essential Functions –

--Provide technical leadership and guidance to develop/maintain/improve our manufacturing processes. Provides SME support to Project Engineering and Product Engineering throughout the Technical Transfer process. Supports the Business Unit Lean Production Management System through personal attendance and engagement at daily meetings. Works closely with Maintenance Manager and Production Team to determine the level of support required. Provides and ensures department Engineering resources are engaged with the Business Unit and are correcting identified issues pertaining to safety, quality and efficiency. Follows up with team members to ensure progress and customer satisfaction.
-- Provides strategic direction and has responsibility for the plant wide Manufacturing Software applications to support plant needs for automated data collection, reporting, and archiving. This includes planning, administration, maintenance, integration, troubleshooting, and periodic upgrades of specific software applications employed at the plant. Hardware infrastructure and network design are provided in conjunction with the Corporate IT Team.
--Manage projects by developing a project schedule and team, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to senior level management. Interface with other functional departments to influence efficient execution of projects.
--Prepare and manage site’s capital plan, asset life cycle plan, and equipment budget.
--Manage cost savings, continuous improvement, and expansion projects.
--Manage the daily activities of all levels of Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
--Prepare department budget.
--Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic activities involving up to and in excess of $10MM (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
--Prepare and present technical investigative reports including recommendations to senior level management.
--Supervise all personnel in the unit for proper application of company policies and procedures and job performance.
--Provides performance appraisal, employee coaching and counseling. Resolves conflicts and initiates disciplinary action when needed. Approves employee change status such as promotion, demotion, termination, etc. Manage employee development and succession planning activities.
--Collaborate closely with Project Engineering and Product Engineering to ensure our processes are properly designed for manufacturability and implemented effectively.
--Collaborate closely with support functions such as Maintenance and Facilities to ensure our processes are properly maintained and monitored.
--Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Business Units by participating in problem solving and continuous improvement activities with our operators, mechanics, and engineers.
--Ensure adequate staffing (head count) and coordinates tasks for hiring of additional personnel. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and overseeing training of employees.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following - Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering) from four-year college or university and 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience desired. Project Management experience desired. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.

Domestic and International travel may be required.
