As Mathematics Tutor, you will deliver Maths to learners at varied levels in the adult core curriculum, able to make maths interesting and relevant.

You'll also contribute to teaching on a budgeting and finance course and other courses as required

Main responsibilities
Design and deliver courses in maths that will engage and motivate learners to move up from entry level three to levels one and two in maths tutions.
Teach classes of up to fifteen learners who may have joined the course at different times and who may vary in ability and enthusiasm.
Provide interesting topics that will engage learners that can be harder to reach.
Develop own teaching materials.
Keep teaching and teaching resources up to date and relevant.
Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that  are mapped to the Adult Core Curriculum whilst meeting the differing needs of learners.
Complete individual learning plans, registers, progression data and class evaluation forms by given deadlines.

Ideal candidate
Relevant qualification in mathematics.
Teaching qualification at or above level 4.
Self motivated and highly organised.

 

Highly Desirable

A proven track record of teaching.
Experience of working with similar client groups either in custody or in the community.

 

Contextual or other information

There will be a strong focus on all aspects of equal opportunities and diversity throughout the delivery and in all dealings with staff or prisoners.
There will be a requirement to attend team and prison meetings.
The successful candidate will comply with the prison security arrangements and the data protection act.
