Financial Accountant – 12 months contract

The GCRS Financial Reporting team is a high profile finance team based in Singapore with significant interaction on a daily basis with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders; including the Country CFOs across the APAC region, Business Managers, Group Treasury, Operations, External Auditors and Finance personnel located in all parts of the world. The team has primary responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the disclosure and presentation of the financial reporting for APAC entities, as well as ensuring compliance with various different Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs) and ensuring efficient processes and robust controls are in place to support these month end reporting process.

This role requires a motivated self-starter that sees tasks are completed, ensures all the deadlines are met and providing communication to the highest standard.
The responsibilities within the above framework will include:
  • Preparing legal entities' books and records including month-end closing, journal preparation.
  • Support the month-end close process by taking ownership of analytical review of the Balance Sheet, P&L for the APAC entities.
  • Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner, and working within month end timetable to ensure financial results are finalised within the required timeframe.
  • Daily control & monitoring of booking, control accounts, system breaks and resolution of booking issues.
  • Performing control activities such as Balance Sheet verification, ICAP & EUA signoffs
  • Participating in Finance Change-the-Bank projects where Business or system changes impact the reporting process. Includes working with system developers to both identify and deliver efficient and effective solutions.
  • Review the work of offshored support team.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to existing reporting processes.
  • Support APAC location controller in understanding and analysis of the reported financial statements.
  • Work with the APAC product controlling team and beyond to promote improvements to month end processes.
  • Support APAC location controller in delivering accurate financial statements on a timely basis.
  • Understanding of business and the Financial Impact these transactions have on the Balance Sheet and PL.
  • Knowledge of front-to-back product control process would be desirable.
  • Keep up to date with developments in accounting standards and policy.  
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/ Business or equivalent.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Investment Banking Products essential.
  • Ability to combine in-depth understanding of accounting policy and financial reporting.
  • Ability to apply detailed technical understanding to practical situations.
  • Experience in engaging with the Product Control Function in an Investment Bank desirable.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of accounting standards relating to Financial Instruments desirable.
  • Experience in Bank / Financial services industry desirable.
  • This is a 12 months contract position.
