Summary of Job Function

Supports the development of individuals, teams and work initiatives. Strives to provide consistent, timely and accurate financial information to stakeholders. Ensures all financial matters are in compliance with guidelines established by various regulating bodies. Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external.

Essential Responsibilities
§ Typically solves problems through the application of established procedures. Requires some individual judgment to make recommendations for changes to established methods.

§ May serve as first escalation point. Refers non-routine issues to management along with input or recommendations. Makes decisions which typically affect a work group within a single department, but may include groups with similar responsibilities in other groups.

§ Provides tactical leadership on matters related to Finance and Accounting.

§ Ensures that processes and procedures comply with existing laws and regulations.

§ Ensures that documentation is preserved and can be retrieved for audit, review, and legal purposes.

§ Manages projects which include analysis, scoping, budgeting, planning, fieldwork, reporting and issue follow-up.

§ Determines resource allocation and assignments based on workload, team skills, etc. Ensures the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work product.

§ Communicates corporate, division, and department information openly with team members through regular staff meetings and other communications.

§ Provides overall leadership for that group in establishing goals, defining roles and responsibilities and implementing process improvement initiatives.

§ Works directly with internal and external customers to perform work initiatives, streamline processes and resolve issues.

§ Keeps abreast, interprets, and implements new financial reporting requirements issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and/or the SEC.

§ Provides analytical support of technical accounting guidance for various TSYS groups.

§ Conducts highly technical analysis of projects and provides definitive financial data and advice to executive management.

§ Manages multiple special projects and cross functional teams while adhering to strict deadlines.

§ Performs a direct role in the professional growth and development of finance team members including formal training, interdepartmental cross-training, regular staff meetings, etc.

§ Performs HR duties such as team development, scheduling, evaluations, salary administration, staffing and counseling.

§ Guide team members performing specialized duties.

Job Specific

  • Education and/or Experience

    Four year college degree and six or more years professional experience or eight or more years professional experience is required. Three plus years experience in accounting and finance. Previous management experience is required. Professional accounting certification is preferred. Appropriate TSYS experience and Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
