Job Description

St. Mary’s Regional Hospital and Medical Center is located in Grand Junction, Colorado. This is a great place to live, work, and play! Responsibilities
Central Plant Equipment Check – Check pumps, motors, chemical pumps, condensate pump, condenser pumps, pressure.  Troubleshoot, repair or adjust as needed.

Maintain operation of steam boilers – Visual inspection, pressure.  Troubleshoot, repair or adjust as needed

Maintain operation of Chillers and Cooling towers – Visual inspections, discharge temp, oil temp, oil pressure, delta pressures, check fan performance, discharge temp., and water treatment.   Troubleshoot, repair or adjust as needed.

Mechanical Room rounds – Tour mechanical rooms.  Visual inspection, check air handlers, belts, bearings motors, pumps.  Inspect steam, domestic water and heating, chilled water systems.  Troubleshoot, repair or adjust as needed.

Water Treatment – Check chemical injection tanks, boilers, make adjustments as deemed by water test results. Troubleshoot, repair or adjust as needed

Paper and Computer Work – Complete daily boiler logs, close out assigned p.m. work orders, shift logs, turnover, e-mail communications and Meditech.

Housekeeping – Sweep, mop, blow down equipment, change lights, paint, trash removal, organize work area and general upkeep of central plant

Turnover – Shift Change – Plant operator will communicate pertinent information of prior shift issues

Building Automation System – Review status of automated equipment, make adjustments, heating & cooling systems.  Troubleshoot alarms, troubles, and make the repair or adjustments as needed.

Understand Emergency Operating Procedures for Boiler Plant

Monitors assigned maintenance zone area as per Department Maintenance Zone accountability standards. Performs maintenance as required to meet standards and Life Safety Code requirements

All work performed is properly documented accounting for a minimum of 90% of time worked.

Maintains and repairs hospital medical gas systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, heating/cooling systems, mechanical systems, locks, hardware, appliances, audio visual, fax equipment and furniture

Performs Emergency Pager Duty promptly, courteously, and effectively. Coordinates Engineering staff response to urgent customer needs

Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. Exhibits safe work practices. Follows applicable safety codes and procedures

Completes 95% + of assigned computer generated monthly P.M. work orders on time

Coordinates outside contractor support as needed to facilitate the completion of repairs. Channels work requests needing contractor assistance through the Supervisor as specified.

Follows proper purchasing requisitions to ensure PO numbers are obtained for the purchase of supplies and services.

Acts independently, assists in the performance of any and all duties necessary to keep the facility in full operation. Demonstrates versatility by using all skills to benefit organizational operation. Works with other staff and work groups to solve Hospital technical problems

Maintains the Pevco pneumatic tube system by responding to alarms and reports of system failure. Performs basic diagnostic functions and repairs

Maintains the Pevco pneumatic tube system by performing technical preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to help ensure system operation and dependability. Promptly troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, purges, and cleans the system as required

Safely operate motor vehicle and comply with driver requirements as defined in SCL Health System’s Driver Safety Policy.

Education
 High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience
Minimum of 5 years Hospital, Industrial, Commercial, or Institutional maintenance experience required. Must be familiar with related codes and standards.

License / Certification/ Registration
Current unrestricted class appropriate driver’s License
