Senior Tax Manager APAC VMware - Singapore, SG

Job Description Overview Of The Role
• VMware is looking for an experienced international tax professional to lead our tax function in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This is a new role that will be based in our regional HQ in Singapore.
• This role will be the main interface for the tax department in the APAC  region and will own, drive and support all activities and deliverables associated with international tax planning, tax accounting and compliance.
 

Core Responsibilities
• Collaborate, drive and support the research, analysis, and implementation of all APAC tax planning initiatives.
• Provide support for global tax planning projects.
• Coordinate with cross-functional groups to implement tax planning and compliance
• Assist in the review and structuring of regional business transactions to optimize tax opportunities and minimize tax exposure.
• Review the APAC tax provision to return true-up’s, deferred tax assets/liabilities reconciliation and current payable/payments reconciliation for all APAC subsidiaries
• Review and manage quarterly and annual tax provisions for APAC  subsidiaries
• Assist in providing information required for the completion of certain international tax aspects of the US tax return.
• Provide support in gathering adequate and accurate data for analysis and decision making.
• Manage APAC tax audits.
• Stay current with APAC tax law developments and trends including impacts of OECD/BEPS initiatives on APAC regional tax policy.
• Coordinate the use of external tax advisors as necessary and coordinate budgets.
• Prepare requisitions and monitor invoices for outside service providers for APAC region
• Assist with the maintenance of all necessary APAC  intercompany agreements
• Assist  with withholding tax considerations and related tax expense adjustments for the APAC region
• Assist on other ad hoc projects.
 

Qualifications And Experience
• 7+ years of International Tax experience with Big 4 Public Accounting Firm / Multinational.
• At least 4+ years experience in APAC.
• Prior experience working for a US Technology Company is preferred.
• University Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
• A Master’s degree in taxation, CA/CPA and/or a Law degree is highly desirable.
• International tax planning and tax compliance background required.
• Transfer pricing experience and experience with Advance Pricing Agreements is highly desirable.
• Experience with tax audits.
• Proficient with Excel and Word. Experience with US GAAP accounting will be an advantage
• Experience with ORACLE and SAP helpful, but not required
• Willing to travel as needed.

Role Title, Location and Hierarchy:
• The role title is: Senior Manager International Tax.
• This role will be based in Singapore.
This role will report to the International Tax Director in the UK.
