This is a highly unique opportunity for a Data Scientist to apply machine learning, big data analysis and predictive modelling across the vast amount of financial data the trading teams create in order to gain a competitive advantage.
My client is seeking a highly proficient data scientist to join the data analytics team focusing on predictive analytics. You will be expected to perform highly skilled statistical modelling and focus on building complex models for loss forecasting, operational efficiency, marketing, and advising senior management.
With a focus on moving towards a big data platform, this group is seeking an experienced predictive modeller to help build a library of analytics models and improve the overall capture and streamlining of data to help find trading patterns.
The successful candidate will have the capability to use complex statistical modelling techniques (Regression, Time-Series, GLM, Data Mining etc.) and the ability to visualize data and present to senior executives.
A proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, SQL and R is important, but as the group moves more towards Big Data they will need someone who can handle machine learning techniques, and have experience with Hadoop and Hive.
The most likely candidate will actually come from outside of industry.
Responsibilities
- Drawing together data across assets including flows, revenues and trading expenses.
- Deciding on possible analysis. Areas for analysis might include:
- Identifying and understanding cross-asset price interactions,
- Understanding client behaviour across assets,
- Identifying cost savings and areas for revenue growth.
- Feature extraction and pattern identification within the data.
- Presentation of research to individual trading businesses.
- Keeping abreast of cutting-edge data science techniques and their industrial applications.
Desired Skills and Experience
Skills
- 2-5 years in data analysis and predictive analytics
- Machine learning expertise is required
- Financial experience would be beneficial
- Analysis development with statistical analysis packages (R, Python, Matlab)
- Use of database programming languages (Q, SQL)
- PhD required - Mathematics, statistics, computer science, or similar
