SAP Variant Configuration Modeler Tennant Company - Minneapolis, MN

This role is to develop and maintain the SAP Variant Configuration (VC) models, business rules, object dependencies, VC and non-VC tables, classification hierarchies, material variants, BOMs, routings, variant conditions in support of global reporting, governance, and management of VC products in SAP system.  The VC Analyst will provide variant configuration expertise and Tennant’s modeling rules to ensure any new requirements will allow for global reporting while meeting customer and business needs.

Manage modeling globally across configurable products, ensuring that suggested configuration changes can be successfully implemented while maintaining the integrity of the data.  Lead the creation of test scripts and complete testing for all new and modified configurable models. 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

• Assist Engineering, Product Marketing, and Operations teams with defining engineering and business rules for configurable products as part of the SAP VC development process.
• Create & maintain the Variant Configuration models within the SAP environment working with a team within Tennant.
• Creates and maintains certain master data related to SAP VC models including KMATs, material variants, BOMs, Routings, classes, characteristics, object dependencies (procedures, selection conditions, and constraints), variant tables, Z tables and variant conditions for pricing and purchasing.
• Understand Tennant’s operations and engineering processes to optimize product setup, product maintenance, production planning, and build processes within SAP VC.
• Provide consultation for current engineering change requests to determine impact and work effort needed to change SAP VC models.
• Work with cross functional team in developing end to end business processes using SAP VC. Facilitate and/or participate in back end business process improvement and change sessions in support of the company’s process improvement initiatives.
• Follow consistent SAP best practice modeling techniques on configurable items to maintain global consistency.
• Maintain a strong understanding of variant configurator data requirements in the SAP production environment and the impacts of data elements on all enterprise systems.
• Test configurable models to ensure business requirements are met and defined bills of materials and routings are accurate. Perform integration testing of the variant configurator models in SAP production environments.
• Ensure process efficiency and configurable product data quality for all functions within the SAP system.
• Educate the broader organization on impact of process and system setup to the global product structure.
• Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard SAP VC techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications of the standard SAP VC practices to complete new product design and product line extension projects.
• Communicates to the affected business areas and or stakeholders of model changes: ie pricing, routes, new MV’s, etc.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• VC SAP modeling expert providing consultation of the best way to set up the product based on the end result desired while maintaining the integrity of Tennant’s product structure.
• Master governance of the VC template for new and modified products.
• Ensure the coordination between Product Life Management (PLM) workflow tool and VC model execution.
• Ensure support documentation is updated to reflect product modifications VC setup processes and Tennant modeling guidelines.
• Document and maintain product setup and product modifications VC setup processes and Tennant modeling guidelines.
• Meeting timing requirements of product change/launch activities
