Lead Architect / Developer required to lead the design and development of an entirely new FICC desk at a Tier-1 Investment Bank in London. The bank have a strong reputation across all classes and are seeking to grow their Electronic Trading department on the back of strong performance. The bank have an exceptional reputation within eTrading and are looking to leverage this within the Securitised Products space, headquartering technology efforts from London.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for architecting and developing a highly complex low-latency trading systems using the latest tools across the SDLC. Due to the start up nature of this team there is extensive autonomy to make high-level decisions, yet equally this is a very hands-on role that will suit a keen programmer looking for leadership and/or architectural responsibilities. Further to immediate development responsibilities, this role will also be responsible for hiring and building a team of exceptional engineers alongside ambitious growth targets. The ideal candidate will understand the build process of a high-performance trading system, with expereince setting up low-latency infrastructure and tuning JVM's in order to extract optimal performance.
You will be working closely with various areas of the business, including Quants and Traders from with FICC as well as the wider business. Further to this, there is also close interaction with other Technology teams within the Bank.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Extensive Java Development experience (Java 7 or above ideally)
- Experience engineering high-performance // low-latency trading systems, with focus on optimum speed as well as throughput
- KDB/Q or similar experience
- High-speed messaging software
- Experience with Python, Scala or any other functional language would be desirable, yet not essential.
Candidates from a non-finance background but with high-performance computing (HPC) or experience working on highly distributed software systems are also encouraged to apply.
