Responsibilities
As “Engineering Manager - Filtration” you would be responsible for managing the engineering team in the design of Fabricated and cast filtration equipment for 3 filtration brands. You will be responsible for the design of highly engineered process solutions used to filter and coalesce a wide variety of fluids used in numerous industries worldwide, including oil and gas, power and energy, and food and beverage. Designs cover a comprehensive range of liquid and gas filters, strainers, fully automatic backflush filters, filter separators, coalescers, cyclones, carbon bed, dual media and cartridge filters. In addition, you will proactively develop and maintain a team of high-performing design and technical engineers, schedule the work load to meet the business commitments and drive continuous improvement and innovative product development aimed at increasing business profitability. Key responsibilities would also include:
- The effective and efficient leadership, management and planning of the Newbury Filtration engineering and design resource to meet contractual requirements utilising SAP and all engineering systems.
- To oversee part number management, material master creation, and BOM structure discipline in line with SPX SAP best practice.
- To ensure products are designed in accordance with customer, code and functional requirements and conform to all necessary legal and safety requirements.
- To work with the manufacturing team ensuring products are designed in the most cost effective manner and that all designs are suitable for the most efficient manufacturing process, whilst ensuring the highest levels of quality are maintained.
- The review and evaluation of existing, new and proposed Legislation and Directives applicable to the company’s product range. The recommendation and implementation of actions to ensure the company’s products comply with the above.
- Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production) or equivalent combined with several years related experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make effective decisions
- Mechanical design experience of designing pressure vessel equipment and working knowledge within ASME VIII Div 1, PED 97/23/EC and ANSI 16.34 standards and codes.
- 2D and 3D design skills using AutoCAD, Inventor, pressure vessel calculations using hand calculations and specialist software such as PV Elite and Nozzle Pro
- An understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), ideally using ANSYS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Directly supervise or co-ordinate the work of others on a small/medium sized team
- Good oral and written English communication skills
