The Senior Process Specialist (SPS) will have between 5 and 10 years’ experience, have a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree a plus) in either Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering, be knowledgeable about the design development and specification of facilities and related mechanical equipment, and will act as technical expert for Exmar projects concerning: oil and gas production, LNG production, and natural gas liquefaction and re-gasification.
The SPS must have a working understanding of project management and controls. The SPS must have or quickly develop a general knowledge of other disciplines such as: general marine utility systems, E&I, automation, subsea, naval architecture, etc. to be able to effectively interface with their practitioners in order to ensure optimum and safe offshore system design.
Depending on the nature and extent of the assignment, the SPS’s activities could comprise: concept development, basic and detailed engineering, procurement support, construction supervision support, pre and final commissioning support, operations support, and marketing support. Depending on the size, phase, and organization of the project, the SPS’s tasks may be to undertake the engineering activities themselves or to supervise the engineering (sub) contractor and/or vendors performing them. The SPS’s activities may take place in EOC’s Houston office or other Exmar offices worldwide, the job site or onboard the facilities. The SPS must be able to work independently, but at the same time be a team player with good verbal and written communication skills.
The SPS must have a working knowledge of Industry and Regulatory Codes & Standards and must possess or quickly develop a working knowledge of Marine Classification Society and Offshore Industry Codes and Standards. The SPS must be able to interpret client specifications and to formulate and/or amend Exmar’s corporate engineering standards based on lessons learned and operational feedback.
The SPS must be proficient in process engineering design, heat and mass balance computations, thermal analysis, hydraulic analysis, pipe flow analysis, pump, compressor, heat exchanger, pressure vessel and other process related rotating and static equipment sizing, specification, and selection utilizing industry related software such as HYSYS, PIPEFLO, PIPE SIM, AutoCAD etc.
The SPS must be willing to travel domestically and internationally for short to medium duration assignments on and offshore and must be willing and able to undertake necessary safety training enabling these type assignments.
