Design Engineer - Portsmouth Walton Road - 4034 Pall Corporation - Walton-on-Thames, GB

Summary Purpose Of The Position
  • To produce design concept and detailed component drawings and specifications in accordance with customer URS and in-line with Pall procedural requirements
  • Support continuous improvement projects and provide technical support where required
Main Duties
  • Design and validate products to customer requirements, relevant design standards/codes and Pall procedures from initial inquiry to contract completion. Design package includes Engineering Drawings, Calculations and quality plans.
  • Create appropriate Engineering Schedules and Bills of Materials to facilitate release of orders within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor and report on deviations from customer and contract requirements.
  • Provide technical support for other internal and external functions (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Applications, Sales and customers).
  • Provide engineering solutions to internal non-conformances (rejects), customer issues (CORs) and change requests within agreed timescales.
  • Implement and support continuous improvement actions/projects and best practice replication throughout the company
Other Duties
  • Understand and influence engineering performance measures
  • Implement actions as instructed by the local manager
  • Mentor and guide new/young engineers

  • To keep your work area tidy and free from hazards.
  • To make a positive contribution to house keeping.
  • Report and address any safety defects.
Knowledge & Key Skills
  • Working with Solid Edge or at least familiar with 3D modelling
  • Communication skills
  • Good time management
  • Competent user of Windows, MS office, Project, Lotus Notes and SAP
PPOR - Base
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel products in a broad range of industries (Examples: Bio-Pharmaceutical, Water, Chemical, Micro-electronics, Nuclear and Food & Beverage)
PPOR - Manufactured Systems Group
  • Experience of designing machined / fabricated stainless steel components, pipework, machined plastics and working with close tolerance, multi item assemblies.
  • Design for manufacture / assembly experience
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel products, pneumatic / hydraulic systems and electrical control.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical or biotech industries and liquid chromatography would be an advantage
Essential Qualifications/Education
  • Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Mechanical desirable)
Essential Previous Experience
  • Ability to receive, review, interpret and implement customer specifications
  • Experience of 3D modelling and 2D drafting in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical or biotech industries would be an advantage
Miscellaneous
  • Hold full clean UK driving licence
  • Willing to work occasional unsociable hours
  • Willing to travel abroad occasionally
