We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated commissioning assistant to join our team to assist in the acquisition and commissioning of non-dictionary content for the Oxford Global Languages initiative (OGL). Working with writers, translators and editors around the world and across many different languages you will assist in all parts of the editorial process from developing a brief to final publication checks. Responsibilities include: Researching and finding new contributors for OGL Commissioning new non-dictionary content such as grammar guides or writing tips Liaising with freelance linguists, editors and writers to ensure the timely progression of content through editorial processes Developing and maintaining admin systems for non-dictionary content Formatting and uploading content to the OGL platform About you You will have: Good undergraduate degree or equivalent in foreign languages, linguistics or English language Passion for languages including digitally under-represented ones and an understanding of the OGL mission Enthusiasm, motivation, and the ability to generate new ideas Interest in consumer web trends Good organizational ability Strong communication skills Excellent attention to detail Proactive and open approach Aptitude for picking up new software such as online publishing platforms, content management systems and project management systems Desirable Publishing experience Copy writing experience Knowledge of HTML Good understanding of translation issues This role would suit someone who is excited about developing and growing a role to fit with the expanding needs of this new and fast-moving programme.
