We are currently hiring for a Quality Inspector for our headquarter in Houston, Texas, reporting to the Quality Supervisor.
 

The Success Candidate Will Have The Following Attributes
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of materials and welds and components for compliance to fabrication drawings, Codes and customer specifications at various stages of fabrication.
  • Manage subcontract NDE Company to perform required types of NDE.
  • Generate reports using computer skills and distribute those reports to various users in the KHT organization, and as required, customers and suppliers.
  • Record observations and may make recommendations for improving processes.
  • Familiar with standard material fabrication and welding concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Work Experience/ Skills Required:
  • Five or more years in an industrial manufacturing environment performing visual and dimensional inspection of incoming and in-process material.
  • Generate and organize documentation for each job such as MTR’s, ASME U-1 and U-2 forms, applicable welder qualifications, NDE Reports, etc.
  • Generate nameplates for each job and maintain a running log of all National Board numbers assigned to heat exchangers and parts.
  • Maintain Welder Certification log for all company employed welders, fitters and NDE certification of qualified KHT and sub-contractor employees and insure they are current.
  • Maintain a Calibration log of all Test Gages, temperature / pressure chart recorders and shop equipment (heat treatment, weight scales, welding machines, etc.) used at KHT. Insure calibration is current and calibrate or send to subcontractor for calibration as needed.
  • Inspect and complete checklist for all heat exchangers and parts during hydrostatic testing. Upload the checklist into the appropriate job folder in the Document Control System.
  • Contact, advise and coordinate with outside inspectors to keep them informed of witness and hold points of manufactured products per job specifications.
  • Able to determine material and component quality according to applicable codes and/or specifications.
  • Generate Non Conformance Reports for out of tolerance issues and follow-up on disposition and corrective actions the NCRs.
  • Demonstrate customer centric, initiative, strong attention to detail, able to multitask and stay focused on tasks.
  • Strong computer skills, Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A self- starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Have a desire to learn and develop technical skills to keep current with changing operations.
  • Have a high regard for personal safely and safety of others,

  • Work Experience/ Skills Preferred:
  • Seven or more years’ experience in a quality program role.
  • Quality inspection experience in an ASME Code manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in NDE types liquid penetrant testing, hydrostatic testing, magnetic particle testing, and/or interpretation of radiography film.

  • Education/Certification Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  •  
  • Education/Certification Preferred
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector preferred; Level II in PT, MT and VT.

  • Physical Demands/Unusual Working Conditions
  • Work in a manufacturing/shop environment. Able to lift 50 lbs.
